Straight Lines : The Simplicity of Life
Those in photography or any art business perhaps have lot of notions about how things should be done, the impact of the tools and their knowledge, being aware of the technology and implementation processes, plus lets say the tricks as well. but the golden rule remains the same everywhere, no matter what creative field you are in. thought process is undoubtedly the same. lets say for example coding is creative, or you think it is not. it is indeed immensely creative. its the repetition of the LOCs perhaps which makes it so boring, but I m sure people like me who do the coding know, if an interesting process it is some charm.
The what it is so different about photography. whats in the name of rules or tools? whats in the name of learning? in one statement if I have to conclude, its just the thought process which matters. it your own imagination, and how you perceive things. ultimately its nothing but bringing your inner thoughts out in a format which others could see, they could be dark or dull, or grungy or smooth perhaps.
About six to eight months back I fell madly in love with Polaroids. The next thing perhaps i was attracted to was filters. aka how to get the vintage effects. so I went on searching for 1970s instant cameras and experimenting with Polaroids and flares, but the fever is soon down, because photography was never about presets, ( with all respect to the "Instagram" users, I too use it now ), and well, I couldnt really get what i wanted out of a shady Nokia E71 phone camera ( I dint want to use my DSLR) so anyways, Bellandur Daily, or The Polaroid Project or The 365project was soon over.
You must be thinking why I brought this into discussion, I do have a reason. the motive behind bringing the tool part is I still believe in "the tool doesn't matter" philosophy and its idea which counts the most. but if it does make a bit of a difference, not iPhone4S, I do have a iPad2 now, and I am exploring the camera side of it. ( not the level of iPhone, but hey I got all apps) So I do expect to have presentable photograph in bright day light, with out the inconvenience of having to use my DSLR all the time and ofcourse the quick sharing as well. i.e. my idea is turned in to a photo and visible to everyone, in absolutely no time.
The Proof of which is This Project I posted on Behance today. Its been a long time since I ve been to my building terrace, it is indeed my favorite place, but I have been a couch potato for as long as six months. and the worst thing about being in the same surroundings like this, is killing your curiosity and making the unusual, the very usual. there is no newness, and absolutely no fresh flowing of ideas or thoughts. So well, my salute to those who deliver brilliant pictures from their kitchen, I got out today, to discover something new, just one thing, and shoot just one photograph to post on page 8 of 366, and voila I ended up shooting about 80 shots.
The bright afternoon sun rays, peeling the colors out of contrast objects and penetrating through the walls in to straight shadows, not only connected me to myself once again but also gave me the same old perspective to life, the simplicity, the direct, child like thinking, connecting dots to dots and building a clear path with out complexities. at that moment I wasn't bothered about if I had the SLR in my hands, or how I am going to put all these image together, or how to process or present, all what mattered was if I was connected to what i was seeing and if at all I as able to capture that.
