10 Quotes I adore and swear by...1/12/2014 04:52:00 AM
"Travel - it leaves you speechless then turns you into a story-teller"
If this is not the case I would never have this blog. Honestly, I am extremely shy in real life and can never have a conversation unless I know someone very well, of course in that case no one can stop me, and I can talk about almost anything in the world and non-stop at that. But truly, its travel no matter to neighborhood or far-off places, that has the ability to both shut my mouth and make me speak.
“Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.” - Oscar Wilde
I love Oscar for this. a very honest and apt line this is. In these times of ever repeated phrase - "Follow your passion, realize your dreams, Travel to find yourself etc." - The truth is, there is nothing in the world like one's passion, there's never been one.
“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” ― Socrates
I can be an expert on something but I can still never know it all. - Realizing that fact is perhaps what is the only thing that can keep me grounded, keep that child in me, who's always ready to learn, alive. and it sure does that.
Sometimes I do get to places just when God's ready to have somebody click the shutter. -Ansel Adams
I have lived this quote. I might sound like a 90yrs old when I say this, But the reality about photography or art for that matter has not changed for hundreds of years. not even now, when everyone can click the shutter. or even about travel, about accessible it is now. But this is what I quote when I repeatedly say I am always lucky when I travel.
“Don’t tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you have travelled.” - Prophet Mohammed
This above quote, together w/ "a traveler without observation is a bird without wings. – moslih eddin saadi" - >> true picture of personality
Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai - Anuja Chauhan
This is not exactly a quote, but a catch phrase (meaning- beyond fear lies victory) But this is one I swear by the most I think. Last I remember saying it, when I got in an accident in the forests of Utah, Not once but in every situation I got in to, ( few of which I remember) I could relate the moment of fear and the moment after w/ this quote. Forget the cheesy advertising part, this is real.
“To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world.” – Freya Stark
How can you tell a story about sensations? I am still learning. But these moments are what makes traveling and all the discomfort that comes with it, all worth it. Tell me if you dont agree.
“A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.” – Lao Tzu
I'd replace the good with real. Yes, a Real traveler has no fixed plans, and the adventure that follows this real traveler is what is most genuine, life-like, complete experience.
“I have found out that there ain’t no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.” – Mark Twain
Mr Twain know me well I guess. The friendships I made and broke are all during travels. and proudly, Let me say this to those who traveled with me, in the past, ever, and I am not in touch with you by any chance, Know that I don't like you, nope :P Sorry i cant pretend either ;)
“In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.” - Robert Frost
Yes Yes Yes.
So Get over yourself. Sleep the problems off. Nothing lasts. everyday is a new day. new sadness, new happiness, new dreams. At least thats what I have learnt.
